James is currently a Community Engagement Project Coordinator. Since 2010, he has remained deeply committed to advancing community-driven HIV prevention efforts through clinical trials at the Seattle VTU, a Fred Hutch program. In a world urgently needing vaccines, the Seattle VTU stands at the forefront in the fight against HIV/AIDS, pursuing innovative research strategies to build better-protected communities.
During time at the Seattle VTU, he co-founded the Multicultural HIV/AIDS Network (MHAN), an innovative collaboration of community organizations and public health entities focused on raising awareness of HIV prevention and care among BIPOC communities. Although MHAN is no longer operating due to limited resources and changing priorities among health care providers, his personal commitment to health equity and dedication to the continued health of BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities has grown in consistency and vision.
